MINUTES
THE INLAND WETLANDS AND WATERCOURSE COMMISSION
SITE WALK MEETING
THURSDAY, MARCH 31, 2016
@ 5:00 P.M.
PRESENT WERE: Evan Griswold, Tom Machnik, Skip DiCamillo, New Guy and WEO Keith Rosenfeld (Tim Rollins joined the group at the 5:30 Site Walk Meeting.) The meeting was called to order at 5:00 PM.
IW#15-17 – Peter Machnik – 131 Mile Creek Road – Installation of a 400 ft. proposed gravel driveway.
The owner of the residence met commission members and led them out onto the property, showing where the proposed driveway would be located. He identified the location of the identified intermittent watercourse which would be crossed by two pipes, filter fabric and suitable stone material. The WEO observed that the watercourse appeared not to have inundated for some time, as it did not present a definitive channel. The applicant said that the work would only take a few days and proper erosion and sedimentation controls would be set in place for the duration of the project. He would attempt to complete the work when a dry period of time was anticipated. No other discussion took place.
IW# 15-18 – Kevin Canning – 76 Grassy Hill Road – Proposed additions and improvements within the regulated area.
The owner’s representative met commission members and led them out onto the property, showing where all proposed work would be located. He identified the various portions of the home to be rehabilitated, removed or added unto and their relation to the site’s upland review area. All of the work would be occurring on the street side of the home, away from the rear, lakeside portion. It had not been determined whether an older shed, located on the side of the property would either be removed or relocated. It would depend on its structural integrity. Also, a concrete patio and barbeque structure would be removed as well, creating additional pervious surfaces. Roof drains and leaders would be directed to newly created rain gardens located in the front of the house and a vegetative buffer was offered as
a way to mitigate future impacts to Rogers Lake and would be provided by the WEO before the next meeting. No other discussion took place.
IW# – 15-19 – John Messer – 12 Sunset Drive – Proposed addition within the regulated area.
The owner met the commission members and directed their attention to the portion of the property where the proposed addition would be located, less than 100 feet from the Upper Mill Pond Brook. Driven stakes marked the corners of the small residential addition. The owner stated that the addition would only have a crawl space under it, not a basement. Proper erosion and sediment controls will be used during its construction and water collected on the roof would be directed to the front of the house. All of the work would be occurring near the street side of the home, away from the brook. A vegetative buffer was offered as a way to mitigate future impacts to the brook and would be provided by the WEO before the next meeting. No other discussion took place.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 PM.
